5.5 Benefit Trends
The Benefit Category Trend represents how the Plan, Member, and Discount contributions were applied to the total charges submitted by providers per customized benefit category, plotted quarter over quarter.
The Benefit Trend overview is designed to simplify the task of breaking down all submitted charges into customized benefit categories. The above chart provides a visual colored depiction on the contributions applied by the plan, member and network.
Green - Plan
Yellow - Member
Blue - Discount
The colored areas show detailed claims information from the start date to the end date for each quarter based on time period displayed on the report.
Category Selection: Click the drop down box to select an individual benefit category.
Period: Denotes each quarter represented on the graph.
# Claims: The number of claims; useful in determining the volume of activity for each quarter.
Charges: The total amount of all charges.
Discount: The amount of savings received from PPO and other discount outlets.
Member Paid: Total amount paid by the member.
Plan Paid: Total amount paid by Plan Sponsor.
