4.7 Member Demographic Analysis
The Member Demographic Analysis includes three reports designed to show enrollment statistics as well as cost distribution across the covered population: Relationship Analysis provides a high level overview by employee, spouse, and dependent; the Age Group Analysis charts enrollment and cost by age band; Age/Relationship Detail combines the first two reports to show enrollment and cost across age groups in each relationship category.
Member Relationship Analysis
The Member Relationship Analysis can be used to determine enrollment activity and per member cost for employees, spouses, and other dependents.
The Percentage of Claims graph shows how claims were distributed between
employees, spouses, and dependents while the Percentage of Plan Paid graph shows
how dollars paid by the plan sponsor break down between each relationship group.

The following fields are displayed in the table:
# Enrolled ( Enrolled Count ): The number of members enrolled within the time period.
This is a measure of enrollment over the entire time period specified on the report. A member active for the entire time period is considered 1, a member active for exactly half of the time period is considered 0.5, a member active for three months of a 12 month plan year is considered 0.25, and so on. The enrollment count is the sum of each members fractional enrollment value, rounded to the closest integer value.
# Current ( Current Enrolled ): The total number of members active on the last day of the time period.
This is a measure of enrollment at a single point in time as opposed to the Enrolled Count, which measures enrollment over a time period.
Average Paid: The average amount paid by the plan sponsor per member.
% Usage ( Percentage of Usage ): The percentage of total dollars paid by the plan sponsor. More.
Plan Paid: Total amount paid by plan sponsor.
The table at the bottom of the report (not shown in graphic) includes the same information as documented above but breaks each figure down by gender.
Member Age Group Analysis
The Member Age Group Analysis report shows enrollment statistics and cost allocation by gender and age band. The default age bands increase in increments of five years with the exception of a single category for members seventy and older.
The graph displays for each age group the amount paid by the plan sponsor (green) and member (red) as well as the savings from network discounts (blue). These numbers do not have corresponding values in the table.

Each of the following fields are displayed broken down by gender:
More.
Member Age/Relationship Detail
The Member Age/Relationship Detail report is simply a combination of the two other member demographic reports. Please see the documentation for each of these reports above for field definitions and usage.
